8×8 — today's puzzle
On today's 8×8 board, region 4 is the most constrained — only 1 cell — so start your scan there for a Forced Queen or a Region Line Lock.
Progressive hints
Hint 1 — where to start
Look for a colored region whose open cells all sit in a single row or a single column. That line's queen must belong to that region, so you can X out the rest of the line in every other region. Regions squeezed into one line are almost always the best opening move.
Hint 2 — the first queens
After your opening eliminations, scan every row, column, and region for one with a single open cell left. That cell must be a queen — place it, and let the automatic X marks fence off its row, column, region, and diagonal neighbors. One forced queen usually triggers the next.
Hint 3 — the mid-game
When direct forced queens dry up, count. If a group of k regions fits entirely inside k rows (or k columns), those regions use up all k of those lines' queens — so X out every cell of those lines that belongs to any other region. This region/line counting is what unlocks the middle of the board.
Hint 4 — the final push
For the last few cells, test a queen: assume one candidate is correct, follow the X marks it forces, and see whether it leaves some line or region with no room for a queen. If it does, that candidate is impossible — X it and place the real queen. Every board has exactly one solution, so a contradiction is proof.
